Running Enlightenment DR17 on Freescale i.MX31

This week ProFUSION finished Enlightenment DR17 to Freescale's i.MX31 development board.

Port was straightforward, but lots of work since LTIB (Freescale's software development kit) lacked many packages, like X11 and other important components. These were all published in upstream LTIB mail list (EFL and others and X.org, E17 will be uploaded soon).

We posted some videos on Youtube and Google Video, check them out, be sure to watch the high-definition video in order to see the nice effects!

As you can see it runs smooth, even with the big clock and fire module loaded. It was not optimized in any fashion, you can even see the ugly X mouse pointer that is there by default. Video presents, in order:

  1. blank X.org with the checker pattern
  2. e17 startup screen using bling-bling theme, with animation
  3. session using bling-bling theme, shelf at top, big clock as gadget
  4. menu effects using bling-bling theme
  5. theme selector and changing to grunge theme
  6. back to bling bling theme, remotely started 'fire' module. See how it blends on top of clock, without any compositing effects required in X11
  7. wallpaper selector and changing to profusion's wallpaper
    1. Future steps includes packaging Illume module and its dependencies. This module is meant for touchscreen devices and is optimized for 480x640 screens, so dialogs are actually usable in such resolution and also features nice kinetic animations.
